Job 20
Zophar’s conclusions about the wicked do have an element of truth in them. However, as we will see they are incorrectly directed toward Job. Zophar describes how a wicked person, one bent on doing evil, might have a victory in the things he tries to do, but those victories will be short lived. They might have a sweet taste at first but they will become like refuse and a cobra’s venom. He ignores the good things God has provided and focuses on his sinful desires. Finally, Zophar describes what could only be the result of the final judgment that the wicked person is destined for if they don’t repent and change their ways. Not a pretty picture and one I don’t want to have any part of.
