Reflections

The first half of this chapter describes the anguish both the Bridegroom and the Bride have over being separated from each other and the second portion is the Bride’s description of her Bridegroom, similar to the one in chapter 4.

While there may not be much that would be consider spiritual in nature in this chapter, it is consistent with God’s ideal for marriage between a man and a woman.  He created woman to be a partner with man in life and that they are to be devoted to one another exclusively.  Throughout scripture we see this principle consistently restated.

Lord God, You are the creator of all things and have established the means by which we should live in Your creation.  For those of us blessed with spouses, we pray that Your Spirit would rekindle anew our love for them each day and help us to express it to them.  Thank You Lord for our loved ones and the many blessings You give us each day.  May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
