Reflections

When we think of a love poem, we don’t necessarily think of something like what Solomon penned in this chapter.  Most of think of the poems like those of Shakespeare or Browning or some other such famous poet.  But here we find love expressed between Solomon, the Bridegroom, and his Bride, using the natural wonders of the land over which he ruled to describe his love for her.

What can we take away from this?  We should focus on the fact that the husband is expressing his love and desire for his wife and she in return bids him to come and share in their love together.  I’m not married or in a relationship at this time but will keep this in mind as the time presents itself when I will meet and marry a woman whom God has prepared for me.

Lord God, thank You for the relationships we have or will have with our spouses.  I pray that we will never grow weary in declaring our love for them as we go through life’s adventure that we will always seek to honor You in all we do.  May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
