This chapter begins the story of one of the saddest events of human history. Yes, there have been other instances of great human tragedy in history and even in the world today. But in terms of global, multigenerational impact, none compares to the betrayal, arrest, trial, and crucifixion of Jesus, the Son of God.

Jesus has just ended His discourse on discipleship that would be needed in the years to come and now turns His attention to preparing the disciples for the events that would soon take place, within a matter of days. Let’s consider the events of this chapter.
