White as Snow

I was reading today’s devotional1 this morning in “Days of Praise” from the Institute for Creation Research and wanted to pass along the link to it.  The title and theme of the article is focused on the phrase “white as snow” as used in the KJV bible.  The article isn’t very long and I would encourage you to take a couple of minutes to read it and reflect on the message it offers.

The last paragraph in particular gives an interesting final observation.

It is marvelous that the raiment of the angel of God, the transfigured Christ, and the Ancient of days, as well as the head of Christ in His glory, are all described with the same phrase as the soul of one whose sins are forgiven!

So when we are forgiven and washed clean of our sins and adopted as children of God, we are then able to stand before God as “white as snow”.

Here are the verses that are referenced in the article.

Psalms 51:1-2, 7 KJV  Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. … 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Isaiah 1:18 KJV Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Daniel 7:9 KJV I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Matthew 28:3 KJV His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

Mark 9:3 KJV And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

Revelation 1:14 KJV His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire
